The creation of an exclusive island neighbourhood on one of the best-connected sites in London was once just an ambitious vision. Now, it is a stunning reality. Taking inspiration from the best elements from metropolitan islands across the world, the project combines bold architecture and pioneering landscape design to create a spectacular landmark in residential living.
Ballymore had a grand plan to create a vibrant island neighbourhood in this undiscovered part of East London (Leamouth Peninsula). Now, with the project well on the way to completion it’s vision and commitment has generated growth for the area and is shaping as a vibrant arts and cultural destination. City Island represented a significant opportunity to develop a culture strategy to transform the peninsula into a distinct creative location. Australian creative agency Cornwell designed a brand identity that felt local, authentic and trusted. The iconic red brand colour and faraday cage pattern (a nod to the Island's Lighthouse) created a set of visual elements, that were adaptive and over time would become cemented as the locations mark and crest for the E14 island postcode.
Intergrating Mapbox maps added interactivity and allowed us to customise the map experience, strengthening insight into the user journeys; highlighting transport travel times and proxitmity to attractive London destinations.
